Increase in Companies House Penalties

From 01 February 2009 the late filing penalties for limited company accounts submitted to Companies House are going to significantly increase.

There has been no increase in the late filing penalties in recent years and Companies House say the increases merely cover inflation over the period since the last increase.

However for many directors the level of the increases will still be a shock.

The new penalties will be:

How late are the accounts deliveredPenalty –
Private Company
Penalty - PLC
Not more than one month£ 150£750
More than one month but not more than three months£375£1500
More than three months but not more than six months£750£3000
More than six months£1500

If your accounts are filed late two years in a row the penalties will be doubled.

It is now more important than ever that your books are delivered to us as early as possible to ensure we have sufficient time to prepare your accounts and avoid any penalties.
